Short write-up today since I’ve got a lot of family stuff to do this weekend. When you are done with this puzzle — and only when you are done with the puzzle — please check out this link if you are so inclined. Can’t say much more than that right now. It’s nothing bad. Don’t you worry.
I also have to give credit to my man Neville Fogarty for one of my clues in the puzzle (he knows which one….or at least he will).
Enjoy the puzzle, and happy Labor Day. There will be a new puzzle on September 13.
That was AWESOME. Great theme- great fill- fantastic clues. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to go take a lucky golden shower…
Thanks! You commented very shortly after I posted this. Musta been an easy-ish one.
It’s definitely not your hardest, but I think it’s your most clever to date (on this site anyway). Your rating is right on- but it always plays a bit easier when every answer is a winner. Lots of “Aha!” misdirection and edge, which seems to be your trademark.
*Blushes.* Much appreciated. I’m just glad there’s an internet space out there for those who want to clue 33-Down the way I do.
Ha ha, I thought 10A was iffier than 33D — but I guess that comes (oops) from the answer rather than the clue. Two peppers seemed about right for this one. Parsing 30D was the final step, since I kept trying to make “venal sins” work (it seemed appropriate, somehow, and Erin was as good as Erin for a show [?] I’d never heard of). Fun.
Make that “Erin was as good as Eric” — stupid fingers.
Really well done theme. Enjoyable solve.
Thanks! (And to Norm, since I didn’t respond earlier)
